Simply pick up the phone and dictate into the Philips Digital Telephone Desktop 9850. It can be accessed and operated using virtually any commercially available touchtone telephone.
Exchangeable Multimedia/SD Card
By supporting both Multimedia and SD Cards, Philips gives you freedom of choice and full flexibility for hours of voice recording. The DTD 9850 supports MMC and SD cards with storage capacities of up to 2 GB. A 64 MB SD memory card will provide about 10 hours of recording time in SP format while a 2 GB SD memory card will provide about about 13.5 days of recording time in LP format.
Records in DSS (Digital Speech Standard) File Format
Offering outstanding audio quality for recorded voice, .dss allows for a high compression rate, reducing file size, network traffic and required storage capacity. Legal firms, hospitals, government institutions or other users can benefit from reduced data volumes, resulting in easier file upload and transfer by e-mail, as well as reduced network traffic. The crystal-clear sound quality ensures that even quietly spoken passages can be understood and speech recognition can be applied. At the same time, .dss keeps power consumption in check, extending battery life. All professional Philips digital dictation devices, such as the SpeechMikes and the Digital Telephone Desktops, support the .dss standard.
Automatic Transfer of Dictation Files Via USB to Network or Via E-mail or FTP
You can use the Desktop 9850 as part of the workflow management system for exchanging data by transferring files to a PC. The software program can be used to define settings for how you would like to operate the device. Depending on how you have defined the transfer, downloading an audio file from the device to your PC may be started automatically or can be initiated by pressing the DOWNLOAD button on the Desktop 9850. The moment you hang up, your recordings can be automatically downloaded via USB to your transcriptionist's computer, an FTP server or an e-mail account. This allows for central file storage which increases security, ensuring that no files are lost, damaged or accessed by unauthorized persons.
Up to 20 Individual Author ID Numbers
Up to 20 different user IDs can be assigned to one Desktop 9850 for clear file recognition.
Standard and Advanced Author Profile
Two separate author profiles are supported: standard and advanced. User IDs can include a + character after the ID number. This indicates their advanced user rights which means full remote functions will be available to them.
Work Type Codes
It is possible to assign a two-digit work type code number to each dictation for later filtering or sorting. This code is stored in each dictation header file (Keyword 2) allowing additional dictation sorting and filtering when transcription takes place.
Voice Prompts
Voice prompts guide you through the dictation process. Pre-recorded languages available include English, French, German or Spanish
