Manfrotto Pro Video Tripod Kits
Video Direct has been an authorized Bogen dealer for many years, and thus also an authorized U.S. retailer for many of the biggest names in the business. These include Manfrotto tripods, which until recently were marketed in the U.S. under the Bogen brand name. If you came here looking for Bogen Tripods, you have come to the right place.
To achieve maximum image sharpness the camera must be set on a sturdy vibration free tripod fluid head offering smooth pan and tilt movements to iron out any jerky camera motion that will mar the recorded image; this unwritten rule applies both to professional and to amateur use.
Manfrotto has a wide range of quality systems for all applications, budgets and camera weights. The video heads they produce offer a variety of technical solutions for camera balancing, drag control, load bearing and tripod mounting.

Specifically designed for the latest DV camcorders used by documentary and industrial videographers, the 516 Pro Video Head is compact, light, and can support cameras up to 22 pounds. The 516 is a cost-effective high-performance video head equipped with fluid cartridges that provides continuous adjustable drag control. The Manfrotto 503HDV Pro Video Head replaces Manfrotto's popular 503 Pro Fluid Head, which was known throughout the video industry as delivering one of the best price/performance ratios of any fluid video head. Continuously striving for perfection, Manfrotto has taken the 503 to the next level. The 503HDV pro fluid head boasts several new features designed specifically for today's HDV shooter and comes equipped with Manfrotto's new multi-spring, adjustable counterbalance system and an improved tilt lock.
The 501HDV replaces the popular Manfrotto 501 Pro Video Head. It inherits its separate pan and tilt locks, gradual tilt friction adjustment system, flat base (with standard 3/8-inch thread), quick release camera plate and repositionable pan bar from its successful predecessor. Inside the 501HDV is a powerful new feature that takes its inspiration from Manfrotto's top professional video head models -- a fixed counterbalance spring (set for a typical camera plus accessories weight of 5.5 pounds) that helps ensure both smoother tilt movements and greater equipment safety even when tilt locks are inadvertently left off. The easy-to-reach on/off switch allows the counterbalance system to be disengaged or re-engaged for different filming setups.
Small and lightweight, the 701RC2 fluid video head is capable of accommodating a payload of up to 8.8 pounds, and is ideal for set-ups such as a fully-equipped 3 CCD mini DV camcorder or a spotting scope combined with a digital still or video camera for digiscoping purposes. One of the most compact and lightweight two-way heads found on the market, the 701RC2 has been designed to support the latest digital video equipment, including Mini DV and the latest prosumer/professional compact High Definition camcorders.
