Inside the 501HDV is a powerful new feature that takes its inspiration from Manfrotto's top professional video head models -- a fixed counterbalance spring (set for a typical camera plus accessories weight of 5.5 pounds) that helps ensure both smoother tilt movements and greater equipment safety even when tilt locks are inadvertently left off. The easy-to-reach on/off switch allows the counterbalance system to be disengaged or re-engaged for different filming setups. But from the outside, the first thing that you'll notice about the new 501HDV video head is its updated design -- completely retuned for much improved ergonomics with locks and knobs that allow a more solid grip and better fingertip control.

The 501HDV replaces the popular Manfrotto 501 Pro Video Head. It inherits its separate pan and tilt locks, gradual tilt friction adjustment system, flat base (with standard 3/8-inch thread), quick release camera plate and repositionable pan bar from its successful predecessor.

Separate Pan and Tilt Locks

The 501HDV provides two separate axes of movement -- panoramic rotation and front-rear tilt. With a separate lock on each axis of movement, this head can be precisely adjusted, and panning/tracking can be achieved on any axis.

Pan Handle

Pan handle can be mounted left or right. Optional second handle is available.
