The 501HDV,028B is a complete kit consisting of the Manfrotto 028B Black Triman Tripod and the 501HDV Pro Video Head.

The Manfrotto 028B Black Triman Tripod is the ideal studio tripod. The geared center column has a non roll-back feature and has a threaded 3/8-inch mount on the bottom of the column to allow low angle shots. Twin shank leg design, built-in spirit level and rubber feet with retractable spikes are standard features. Includes a mid level spreader and carrying strap.

The 501HDV replaces the popular Manfrotto 501 Pro Video Head. It inherits its separate pan and tilt locks, gradual tilt friction adjustment system, flat base (with standard 3/8-inch thread), quick release camera plate and repositionable pan bar from its successful predecessor. Inside the 501HDV is a powerful new feature that takes its inspiration from Manfrotto's top professional video head models -- a fixed counterbalance spring that helps ensure both smoother tilt movements and greater equipment safety even when tilt locks are inadvertently left off. The easy-to-reach on/off switch allows the counterbalance system to be disengaged or re-engaged for different filming setups.

The built-in mid-level spreader adds anti-torsional rigidity and stops the tripod legs from accidentally being knocked wider apart. Compared to a ground-level spreader or dolly, the mid-level spreader has the advantage that it stays well out of the mud and dirt and is more suitable for use on uneven terrain. Each of the legs can be set to a different angle of spread for more flexible, versatile positioning and to help keep camera equipment well-balanced over the tripod's center of gravity.
