Replacing the 484 mini ball, the Manfrotto 494 Mini Ball Head is designed for use with compact, 35mm and small digital cameras. The strong die-cast construction, precision-machined aluminum housing and ball provide excellent smooth movements across all tilt positions. It has a new friction control knob plus a smart ratchet locking knob for 360-degree pan and plus/minus 90-degree tilt movements. Camera attachment is via a 60mm platform with 1/4-inch male thread. Head to tripod attachment is 3/8-inch female.

Smart Ratchet Locking Knob For 360-Degree Pan and Plus/Minus 90-Degree Tilt

A smart ratcheting locking lever allows the user to place it in a comfortable position in order to use it in the most convenient way. Just pull it outwards, put it in the best working position, and then release it. This makes working with the head easier and quicker. The locking lever securely locks the head both in the +90 degrees and -90 degrees ball positions and in the 360 degrees pan movements.
